Sophie Gallagher is Features and Lifestyle Editor at the i newspaper.
She has previously written and worked for the BBC, Guardian, Sunday Times, FT, Stylist, Cosmopolitan, Grazia, Women’s Health, and others. And led the Press Association digital features and magazine NCTJ course.
Sophie worked behind the scenes on Emily Atack’s BBC Two documentary ‘Asking For It’, which aired in January 2023. She has also appeared on Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour, ITV’s Good Morning Britain, Jeremy Vine, and had her work cited on the Today programme.

She was voted Lifestyle Journalist of the Year at the Words by Women Awards (2019) and was part of a team shortlisted for BSME Team Of The Year (2021) and for a Mind award.

At HuffPost UK, Sophie began an editorial campaign on cyber flashing; the unsolicited sending of sexual images. This work was discussed in Parliament and resulted in a review being launched by the Law Commission, which recommended cyber flashing become a new sexual offence, crediting Sophie’s work.
Sophie has also given regular talks on journalism, hosted panels for international brands like Bumble, and done digital media consultancy work.
Sophie has lived in Puerto Rico and Wisconsin, USA, and now lives in London.
